Sunday Bedtime Song Post: God Bless the Child
After all the stress of this past week, I found myself heading back to the old classics of jazz. Its hard to believe that there is a whole generation (or two, or three!) out there that never dealt with records. But what I love about this version is the scratchiness of the record in the background that just enhances the warmth and richness of her tone.
It’s sung by someone who can understand what it means not to have everything you may want or need at all times…it’s important for us to remember that there is a lot of that going around these days right here in the U.S.
But let’s not get mired down in the background political statement – it’s a lovely song to just close your eyes to and try to relax before the sandman comes for a visit…
