crankydem FREAK OUT over the impotence of our so-called leaders on sensible gun legislation

How did we get to a point in our society where our so called “DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED”* lawmakers were afraid to vote in favor of legislation that the majority of the country is in favor of?  Worse yet, how did we get to a point where the leaders of the Legislative bodies were afraid to even ALLOW the vote(s) to occur? Even if it ends in a down vote, we the People, are ENTITLED to know where the individuals we elected into jobs which draw a paycheck for life stand.

“THEY DESERVE A VOTE”

Is part of the answer that we have failed to pass comprehensive campaign finance legislation?  It must be really hard to get people to fork over dollar after hard earned dollar for these increasingly more expensive campaigns.  Remember this PowerPoint slide from the Huff Post couple months back?  The few days a year that Congress is actually working here is what they do all day:

A “model daily schedule” given to new Democratic congressman around orientation time:

daily schedule congress

Taking money from the NRA, Big Oil, Monsanto, etc etc must seem like a quick and easy solution.

Until you find yourself stuck having made a deal with the devil.

Until you are Harry Reid and you now find it hard to sleep at night because the vision of 20 six year olds riddled with bullets haunts your dreams…

“THEY DESERVE A VOTE”

How did the segment of the American population that is against an assault weapons ban and that is against a high capacity magazine ban get to the point where they were so blind as to not see what was right and good for the larger American society?  If their so called slippery slope argument is true, the laws will be challenged and dialed back, like they always are…

How were Americans able to ban beer in Prohibition Era America, but today we are unable to pass simple gun legislation that is common sense like a universal background check??

Has the blind rage of racism because of the Black man in the White House made the right lose all sense of what is moral and decent, despite their many hours spent in tax-exempt Churches across this country?

Outrage does not begin to express my feelings toward our so-called democratically elected officials.  THEY ARE A SHAMEFUL WEAK BUNCH OF COWARDS WHOSE LEGACY WILL GO DOWN IN AMERICAN HISTORY AS THE WORST CONGRESSIONAL BODY SINCE THE DAWN OF OUR GREAT REPUBLIC.

*re-drawing the Congression district maps hardly makes it democratic now, does it?
